iOS beta on TestFlight · also on the web

A little wonder. A clearer path to learning.

The Veridical helps children build early reading and math skills through guided lessons that teach, practise, and adapt to the child’s responses.

For children ages 4–10 · Set up by a parent or caregiver

A calm space for guided practice

A look at screens from the current beta design. Every child gets their own path, starting with a short placement.

A lesson screen titled Let's Learn: Hear the first sound. An animated face and a close-up of its mouth show how the sound is made, with a play button. Below are three letter choices, C, R and S, each with a button to hear it.

A guided session

Each lesson shows how a sound is made, with an animated face and a close-up of the mouth. Children listen, then tap the letter they hear.

A placement card from the home screen: Olivia's Placement, with a short explanation and a Start Test button.

It starts with placement

A short placement test helps the tutor find where each child should begin.

Two child cards from the learning screen, each with the child's name, age and a Start Session button.

A session for each child

Brothers and sisters each have their own sessions, started from one parent account.

Screens are from the app’s current design and may change during the beta. Names, photos and figures shown are examples.

How it works

Shown first, then practised, then tried alone

Children aren’t asked to answer before they’ve been shown how. Each skill moves through three simple steps.

  1. Step 1

    Learn

The tutor introduces and models a skill, like the sound a letter makes or how to count on from a number.

  2. Step 2

    Practise together

The child works through guided examples, with help close at hand when they need it.

  3. Step 3

    Build confidence

The child tries the skill independently, and the next lesson follows from how they responded.

Reading & Math

Two foundations, in small steps

Children practise early reading and early arithmetic, each at their own level.

Reading

  • Phonics and letter sounds
  • Blending sounds into words
  • Early reading practice

Math

  • Number sense and counting
  • Early arithmetic
  • Problems shown with pictures and solved step by step
The Insights screen for one child, Olivia: a row of child photos to switch between, progress rings for Phonics, Arithmetic and Fine Motor, a Weekly Projection line chart, and sections for the Weekly Report, Skills Mastered and Skills in Progress.

For parents & caregivers

See what your child is working on

The Insights screen gives you a view of each child’s practice.

  • One profile per child, chosen from the row at the top.
  • Progress rings for each learning area.
  • A weekly projection chart.
  • A weekly report of sessions completed, time practised and skills learned.
  • Skills in progress and what’s coming up next.

These figures summarise your child’s activity in the app. They’re a guide for following along, not a formal assessment.

An honest beta

The Veridical is new and still being built. It hasn’t yet been tested with children, so we don’t make claims about learning results. Lessons and screens will change as we learn from beta families.
